Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Wednesday in a high-scoring affair where Coleman bested Bangs, 11-6.
The Bluekatts captured the lead in the second inning. Raelea Robinson drove in one run when she doubled. Bangs led after the third inning after adding 3 runs to their 1 run in the 1st.
Coleman took the lead for good with seven runs in the fourth inning when Robinson doubled on a 0-1 count scoring one run, Brooklyn Gilbreath doubled on a 1-1 count scoring two runs, Haylee West singled on the first pitch of the at bat scoring one run, and Jolie Monroe singled on a 2-2 count scoring two runs.
Aislyn Cox pitched the Bluekatts to victory. She lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and six runs while striking out five. She threw 69 strikes of 99 pitches, for 69.7% and only walked 2 batters.
Bangs pitcher Sierra Lorah lasted seven innings, allowing 14 hits and 11 runs while striking out three. She threw 73 strikes of 128 pitches for 57% efficiency.
Coleman collected 14 hits on the day. Cox, Robinson, Monroe, and Brooklyn Gilbreath all had multiple hits for the Katts. Robinson and Cox each collected three hits to lead in batting. Also, Cox, Audrey McKeehan, and West each had one stolen base. (Complete stats attached)
The Bluekatts are 1-1 and will continue district play on Tuesday, March 17th at 4:00 in Coleman against Dublin.
