2023 Bluekatt Softball Team

The Coleman Bluekatts are 4-0 after Monday's win at Menard with a score 20-0. The game was called on a run-rule after three innings. Inside the park home runs by Micah Riggs and Lauren McKeehan helped the Bluekatts in their victory.

The Bluekatts struck early in the game with Brylei Gilbreath leading off with a triple. While McKeehan was at bat Gilbreath scored on a wild pitch, then McKeehan also got a triple. (1-0)

After one out, Riley Hartfield singled, scoring McKeehan's courtesy runner Norma Guerrero. (2-0) Raelea Robinson walked, then Mia Watson came up to bat. While she was at plate, Hartfield's courtesy runner Chaney Rosales stole 3rd and then scored on a passed ball. Watson then doubled scoring Robinson. (4-0)  (Read more below...)

After one more out, Addi Cox walked and Watson stole 3rd base. Micah Riggs then singled, scoring Watson. (5-0)

In the 2nd inning, McKeehan hit an inside the park home run as the first batter up. (6-0) Then Olivia Jefferson was hit by a pitch putting her on base. Hartfield singled to center field and on base due to an error by the fielder, Jefferson scored and Hartfield advanced to 3rd. (7-0) Robinson then hit a ground ball reaching first on an error by Menard's shortstop, scoring Hartfield. (8-0) While Watson was at bat, Robinson scored on a passed ball. (9-0) Watson walked and while Ipsha Bhakta was at bat, Watson advanced on wild pitches and steals to score another run. (10-0) Bhakta was then walked, also.

While Addi Cox was at bat, Bhakta stole 2nd, got to 3rd on a wild pitch, then scored on a passed ball. (11-0) Cox got the 3rd walk of the inning. Riggs then doubled, scoring Cox. (12-0)

A single by Gilbreath, two errors by Menard, and a triple by Hartfield ended the 2nd inning with Coleman up 16-0.  (Read more below...)

the 3rd inning was just as exciting with Chaney Rosales starting it out with a ground ball and reached on an error. Rosales was caught stealing 3rd for one out, and then Jaylie Steffey walked. Riggs hit an inside the park homerun scoring two runs. (18-0)

Two batters were hit by pitches and Robinson singled scoring them before the top of the 3rd inning ended. (20-0) The Bluekatts again kept Menard from scoring, and the game ended on the 20-run rule in three innings giving Coleman a 4-0 record in district play.

Lauren McKeehan was on the mound for the Bluekatts pitching all three innings allowing one hit with five strikeouts.

Leading the Katts in hitting were Riley Hartfield with 3 hits in 4 at bats, with 3 RBI's AND Micah Riggs with 3 hits in 3 at bats with 4 RBI's. Getting two hits in the game were Gilbreath, McKeehan, and Watson.

The Bluekatts had 14 hits total, showing their skills at the plate. They also had 10 stolen bases showing their ability to advance to get in scoring position.

The Bluekatts are on a roll and will meet up with the Bangs Lady Dragons next Tuesday, March 21st AT their field in Bangs with the game slated for a 5:00pm start. The Lady Dragons are also 4-0 having played without allowing any runs to score against them in district play so far.

However, they haven't faced the Bluekatts' bats, and the Katts are ready to give them their first loss in district. Head over to Bangs next Tuesday to support the Coleman Bluekatts in the fight to take the lead in District 6-2A.Â
