District Champs

ColemanTODAY.com Photo - Congratulations Coleman Bluecats, still undefeated, #4 in Texas 2A-Division 1 football and your District Champions!  

The Coleman Bluecats hoisted the gold District Championship trophy before a happy home crowd Friday night at Hufford Field, closing out a perfect undefeated season and the outright District 4-2A Division 1 Championship.  The final score was Coleman 42, Winters 0.  Next up is the Bi-District game next week against Anson which, as of 11:30 pm Friday, had not been finalized.  

The Bluecats got on the scoreboard on the opening kickoff as Winters kicked to Braxton Smith who returned the ball 79 yards for a touchdown.  Christian Villeda added the extra point for the early 7-0 lead.   

Touchdown #2 for Coleman came a few minutes later on a 74 yard run by Ryland Gentry.  Villeda's kick was good making the score 14-0.

Touchdown #3 for Coleman was a 41 yard screen pass from Jadin Jackson to Ryland Gentry with 4:00 minutes left in the first quarter.  Villeda's kick made the score 21-0.  (Read more below...)

Touchdown #4 was a 15 yard Cort McFadden run at 9:20 in the 2nd quarter.  Villeda's kick was true bringing the score to 28-0.

Touchdown #5 was a 15 yard pass from Jadin Jackson to Braxton Smith with no time remaining on the clock in the first half.  Villeda's kick was good putting the halftime score Coleman 35, Winters 0.

The final score of the game was a 6 yard run by RJ Wright with :26 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.  Villeda's extra point made the score 42-0 to close out the scoring for the night.
