The Coleman ISD School board met on Monday evening. Present were Becky Dobbins, John Casey, Matt Hadden, and Lee Morrison. Absent were Mark Martinez, Sandra Rose, and Josh Hale. Others present were Brandon McDowell, Diana Dobbins, Thomas King, Justin Gartman, Joy Thompson, Kristi Greaves, Mary Strickland

One item on the agenda was the accepting of resignations from Elementary Principal Justin Gartman and Sarah Mason, CHS Librarian.

1. Certify Candidates are Unopposed for Election to Office for the Coleman ISD Trustee Election Scheduled on May 6, 2023 – Passed 4-0

2. Declare the May 6, 2023 Coleman ISD School Trustee Election Cancelled – Passed 4-0

  • D. Joy Thompson - Director of Special Programs/School Improvement
  • Motion to extend contracts 1 year. Passed 4-0

6. Approved Missing Day Waiver for Date of February 1, 2023. Passed 4-0

7. TABLED the Proposed Food Service Management Contract with Southwest Foodservice Excellence, LLC, for the 2023-2024 School Year Item.

8. Approved TASB Policy Update 120 affecting Local policies:

  • • CB(LOCAL): State and Federal Revenue Sources
  • • CKC(LOCAL): Safety Program/Risk Management - Emergency Plans
  • • FNG(LOCAL): Student Rights and Responsibilities - Student and Parent Complaints/Grievances

BOARD REPORT:  2021-2022 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) – Report given by Supt. McDowell and principals. The District received a 2022 Accountability Rating of ‘B’ and Meets Requirements for the 2022 Special Education Determination Status.
