Tuesday, June 4, 2019 was the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment of the US Constitution. This amendment gave women the right to vote. The local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) organized the Suffrage March and a reception following the March. The 'girls' (and one little boy) did their best to 'protest' women's right to vote in Interbank, Coleman County State Bank, Shoppin' Baskit, and in Owl Drug Store. One of the marchers was Virginia Jamison, who just celebrated her 90th birthday! Her daughter Sarah and Great-granddaughter Cali were also in attendance. The smiles and laughter were matched with some loud declarations such as, "A Woman's Vote Counts!" They also carried signs, some of which were reminding women to register to vote. Thank you to these young ladies for reminding us not to take our rights for granted!
