Philip Hinds

A longtime Coleman business will be closing its doors June 29th with the owner retiring.

Philip Hinds has been at The Bargain House Furniture Store for 33 years, owner since 1987, when he bought it from his father-in-law, Doyle Glasson, as he retired.  Now it's time for Philip to retire, well, sort of. "It's kind of a mixed feeling," Philip said. "I'm glad I'm doing it, it's time. I'm going to miss all my good customers and seeing them, day in, day out, but I've got a lot of things I want to do out at the farm," Philip said.

He will close The Bargain House furniture store at 711 South Concho Street at the end of June but will continue to operate the storage units located across the street to the west and to the south of the store. And, Philip will still tend the shop on occasion. The office will still be open to accept storage unit payments Monday through Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 1. Longtime employee, Renee Williams, and Philip will share time at the office.

For now, the remaining inventory in the store is being sold and folks are taking advantage of some good deals. What doesn't sell by month's end will be sold in an auction sometime in the future.

Congratulations Philip on your many decades of business in Coleman and on your retirement. We wish you and your family the best!
