James E. King - Hall of Honor 2018

Each week Coleman ISD will highlight an individual that was inducted into the Coleman ISD Hall of Honor.  This week’s honoree is James E. King, CISD Hall of Honor Class of 2018.  Nominations are being accepted for the HOH Class of 2022. Nominations will be accepted until November 1, 2021 and the HOH Banquet will be held February 12, 2022.  Nomination forms are available on the CISD website, www.colemanisd.net or contact the CISD Administration Office at 325-625-3575.

JAMES E. KING – Coleman ISD Hall of Honor Class of 2018

James E. King was the Coleman Bluecat Band’s first band director in the 1930’s.  Mr. King, also known as “Prof” by his students, attended St. Louis Conservatory of Music.  Mr. King composed the CHS Alma Mater.  Mr. King was also the founder of TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association). TMEA is Texas’ largest music educator association with over 15,000 members. Early in his career, Mr. King directed the TCU and Baylor Bands at the start of both programs.  Mr. King organized the first band contest in Texas which was held at the State Fair in Dallas.
