Each week Coleman ISD will highlight an individual that was inducted into the Coleman ISD Hall of Honor. This week’s honoree is W.A. “BILL” STEPHENSON Coleman ISD Hall of Honor Class of 2019.
Nominations are now being accepted for the HOH Class of 2022. Nominations will be accepted until November 1, 2021 and the HOH Banquet will be held February 12, 2022. W.A. “BILL” STEPHENSON – Coleman ISD Hall of Honor Class of 2019
Bill Stephenson graduated from Coleman High School in 1949. He was a graduate of Texas A&M College class of 1953. He was inducted into the US Army in 1954. Following the army, he and his wife, Joy, returned to Coleman to raise their family. Mr. Stephenson became very active in the community, working and owning several businesses. He served six years on the Coleman ISD School Board and was instrumental in the construction of the new high school. He was a Boy Scout leader and volunteer, Little League baseball coach, and a 20-year member of the Coleman volunteer fire department. He served on the Coleman Country Club Board, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a 25 year member of the Coleman Rodeo Association, an Elder in the First Christian Church and served on the Coleman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He was instrumental in organizing the Coleman Betterment Council. Because of his love and commitment to service for Coleman, he received the “Citizen of the Year” award in 1981.
