Workforce Solutions awards over $16,000 in classroom prizes to area schools for Careers in Action student video contest

Coleman Junior High 8th Grader Lear Vann won the Small Middle School Finance Division of the Careers in Action Video Contest. The link at the bottom of the article will take you to a video of all the entries and the awards.  Vann interviewed Tommy Sloan at Interbank-Coleman.  

Abilene, Texas—Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas awarded over $16,000 in prizes to participants of the 2021 Careers in Action video contest during a live stream of the Virtual Red Carpet Premiere event on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Middle school (6th-8th grade) and high school (9th-12th grade) students under the direction of a teacher from their school, submitted short career exploration videos highlighting jobs in select industries in the West Central Texas region. Guest judges from area businesses, local media, and education institutions scored submissions and selected winning videos.

Finalists were selected from five industry categories and divisions, and broken up by middle school/high school and small school (1A) and large school (2A/3A) classification. Eula High School students and teacher, Madison Galle, won the Grand Prize for their submission in the field of HVAC. Other industry, division, and special category winners included submissions from ATEMS, Clack Middle School, Anson, Clyde, Highland, Ira, Coleman, Munday, and Wylie. Finalists receive a prize package of their choosing valued at $700 including: iPad Pro with iPad pencil or DSLR camera with media accessories.
