In session Thursday, November 19, 2020 the Coleman City Council voted unanimously to confirm the appointment of Jimmy R. Watson as Coleman Fire Chief. Jimmy began his career with the Coleman Fire Department in 2007. He worked through the ranks to the position of Fire Marshal. In December 2019 he also began serving as Interim Fire Chief. In her recommendation to confirm Watson, City Manager Diana Lopez said Watson is a very good leader, driven with passion for what he does, has progressed moving the fire department forward, is a great communicator and innovative. Mayor Tommy Sloan noted that Jimmy's grandfather, Raymond Carnes, also served the citizens of Coleman in the Fire Department, a job he held for 37 years.
