New Year's Day 2021 dawned with a winter wonderland over Coleman County.  A major winter storm quickly dumped 3 to 4 inches of snow over most of the county.  The snow was on top of more than one inch of rain that fell during the day Thursday.  A thick coating of ice has damaged trees and power lines.  Sporadic power outages were still being reported Friday morning.  As of 10:00 am, the snow and ice had started melting and most will be gone by late day thanks to highs near 40.
